Xbox Owner Sues Over Defective Disk Drives

Reuters

Wow. Can't believe it. The suit is over a faulty DVD drive. Originally I thought he'd be suing over losing his save games on the hard drive when I read the title. Seems kind of frivolous. We don't sue auto manufactures for selling poorly constructed vehicles. Things break down, why would the Xbox be any different?

Moore: pirate my film, no problem

Sunday Herald

I know it's old, but news to me. Suprised me that anyone in the film industry wouldn't mind if their movie was pirated on the net. I think it's pretty cool of him. Kind of like the old days, when artists just wanted people to be appreciate their work. Oh how things have changed.

"Eight Myths About Video Games Debunked" by Henry Jenkins

PBS

Just thought I'd share, since it's pretty interesting. Alot deals with video game violence bringing on violence in the real world.

Half-Life 2 Requires Internet Connection

1UP

HL2 will require an internet connection upon installation to verify the copy is legal. This check will be needed even to play the single player part of the game. So what about those with no internet access? SOL. Install at a friends house, or sign up for one of those AOL trials. I don't know why companies still bother with the copy protection, it seems the only people that it inconveniences is legitimate owners of the software.

FBI Probes Leads on Election Terror Plot

Miami Herald

Why can't we just blanket the mid east with nukes? Is is hard to admit we just want the oil? Do you honestly think we care about helping people? I don't have much to say about this topic, but we need to take care of these terrorists once and for all.

I Still Call Them 'Trekkies'

Times Union

Space, the final frontier... Shatner is trying to catch the next commercial flight into space. Celebrities just have too much cash these days. I'd keep my feet right here on solid ground. Oh, about the title, I not going to call them 'Trekkers' they are still dorks in my opinion.

The Actor to Play Next Superman Role

Reuters

I guess with all the ca$h being made at the box office with these comic/superhero flicks they are bringing one of the classics back. Isn't there an urban legend that anyone that plays this role ends up seriously injured in the future? Scary stuff.

What a Bunch of Losers!!

Not going to link to a site since it's all over the place, but yes, the New York Yankees have managed to blow a 3 game lead. The Boston Red Sox managed to go on a 4 game winning streak to clinch the vitory in game 7 of the ALCS. I'm not a baseball fan, and I get tried of listening to people root for the local team, so I'm glad the Yanks blew it.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2) - Leaked

Addict3d

When are they going to stop? This stuff has been happening for years. Someone at the plant is always going to find a way to smuggle out a game. Just because MS made a big deal over Halo 2 now everyone is jumping on the band wagon for some publicity. I wouldn't be suprised if the companies are doing it themselves. Anyway, at least this one is NTSC so the pirates can understand what is going on.

Xbox Live Banning

Seems like MS is at it again. There have been reports on people being banned from XBL for having a mod in their system. Even if the mod was inactive at all times they were on Live, they still qualified for the ban. What was MS looking for to find out an Xbox was modded? We don't know. A statement from XBL's Major Nelson suggested modified Xbox's were able to bypass their current security and gain an unfair advantage on Live. My guess, they are still PO'ed about the Halo 2 Leak and are just "Fighting Back". They need to just get over it, piracy happens every day, which doesn't make it right, but just something you gotta live with till copyright protection improves.
