More about World of Warcraft (WoW)

Yet another post months later... Been playing WoW every chance I get, my main character is a Level 60 Paladin on the Alleria server. I've been working on leveling another toon, a Mage. Alot has happened since I've first started, our guild has ZG on almost farm status (a few bosses can cause problems once in a while) and we are finally up to Molten Core. Tonight we downed Lucifron, Magmadar, and Gehennas. Magmadar and Gehennas being guild firsts. Even won a pair of Lawbringer Boots. Anyway... just thought I'd update so the "content" here doesn't get too stale.

I Feel Like Ranting...

OK, I finally buckled and bought World of Warcraft (WoW) as much as I hate thinking about having to pay a monthly fee for a game I already bought. It is very much worth it. A game of this magnitude takes alot of time and money to maintain and improve. If you want to justify the purchase, think about it this way: If you go to the movies 2 times a month, it will cost you more than the $15/month you pay for WoW, and you're only getting about 4-6 hours worth of entertainment. Anway, I did say this was going to be a rant, so what I'm pissed about is that I finally get a day off to sit down and play WoW after purchasing it on Sunday, and the damn servers are down for maintanence. WTF?!?! So I have to wait till about 2pm EDT to play. Kind of annoying.

Holy !@#$% Batman!!

Yes, it's been a while since I last posted... Hard to remember I have a blog sometimes when nobody reads it... I'll make this quick and painless (for me). Batman Begins, awesome movie. Definately wasn't what I was expecting. Quite a change from where the original movie series was going, to crap. Batman Begins has a more serious tone, no stupid catch phrases like "Chill Out!!". One of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Anway, Kevin Rose releases another episode of Systm. Kevin Pereira has his blog up, with podcasts when he so desires. Hmm... what else... had enough spare parts to get my old PC (P2 300 MHz) running again with Ubuntu on it so I can screw around with linux when I so desire, but mostly I got it running too keep my girlfriend off my main PC, and since all she does is AIM and browse the web (including webmail) a Microsoft OS wasn't needed. That's all for this post. Drop by #systm on EFnet if you are bored, cause we are too.

Systm Release

Ok, just listened to the podcast. Some big news, Kevin has set a release date for Systm and there's also a counter on the site now, it's going to be a birthday present to me. New episode will premier next Monday May 23rd. I also believe that him the and Sarah Lane are no longer seeing each other. There was a joke on the podcast about him having a baby and his reply was "Nice try, by myself, yeah". You heard it hear first. Tomorrow I'll post some more comments about the podcast and try to discuss some of the issues brought up, no promises though... I get lazy quite often.

TWiT Episode 5 Released

I've been waiting all night and the 5th episode of the TWiT podcast has finally gone up mere minutes ago. Here's the link again if you haven't been paying attention. Also I added links for RSS/Atom feeds for this blog. Check it out below on the right. The Atom feed is direct from Blogger and the RSS 2.0 feed has to go through FeedBurner for conversion since Blogger/Google doesn't provide RSS feeds. Back on topic, I wish TWiT could be on more than once a week. Anyway... I think my ramblings will start to become less broad, and more specific in nature, we'll see, it's too early to tell.

Another update for the hell of it.

Yes, I will update even though noone reads my blog, and I might have to stretch it across a couple of posts. As you can tell if you've read any of my prior posts, I'm a fan of Attack of the Show and KevinRose well recently he's forced me to go back to using RSS feeds and now the ever growing world of podcasts (audio via an RSS enclosure). He's doing a great one with the crew from The Screen Savers (old TSS, Leo, Yoshi, and some of the others I never got to see on the air). You can check them out at ThisWEEKinTECH. So along with their normal RSS feed I also subscribe to the podcast feed. While I'm at it I thought why not subscribe to a couple of other RSS feeds, some of the cool ones are Engadget, digg (run by kevin), Hack a Day (also from Engadget), Xbox-scene, and of course Kevin's site @ KevinRose.com. To find out if one of your favorite sites have an RSS feed that you can subscribe to, look for a RSS or XML icon on the site, this will give you the URL for the feed. For news aggregator, there's a decent list here. Hope this isn't too overwhelming. If you post a comment I'll try to help. Good Luck.

Google Web Accelerator

Google.com
New Google web accelerator. What are these guys going to think of next? I'm gonna try this out for a bit and see how it works. From what I understand it turns google.com into a proxy to make pages load faster. Seems like a great ideal.

I have to take it all back. They are having issues with caching login info letting users login to other users accounts.

Digital Rights Protection - The End of P2P

virulg.com
A Finnish company, Viralg Oy, says it can wipe out file-sharing in an instant.
The company says it has developed digital rights protection software that can be incorporated into digital movie, music or software releases and set to play havoc with P2P networks on which releases may appear.

Viralg says it has a "virtual algorithm" which is capable of, "mixing together files in P2P networks in a way that the illegal downloader will end up downloading useless garbage instead of real music, movie or game content". In a statement, it claims its technology can also destroy already shared files on peer to peer networks.

The company says the technology has been used sucessfully by BMG's Finnish subsidiary, BMG Finland and it is now actively seeking new clients in the entertainment industry.

It says its technology can be used on any of the existing P2P networks without damaging the networks, any ISPs or the downloader's PC. It claims it'll simply corrupt the downloaded file so it cannot be viewed. -- NZBzone.com

Halo Auto Update, It's Here...

Not bad... Grenades actually do damage, that's about the only noticible difference I see. Oh and the Standby glitch is useless now. From what I've heard, the person doing it gets a blue screen right away. Way to go bungie. I'm not sure when, but the stats will also be reset. Not sure if I mentioned that in my previous post. Either way, I'm glad they are noticing and fixing some of the mistakes they made. Now, we need more maps. I sure as hell ain't paying for them either.
